2017 Volunteer of the Year Award

November 14, 2017

Every year the Doty Island Development Council recognizes a member of the community who volunteers their time to improve life on Doty Island. This year we are recognizing an organization that impacts everyone around them - everyday! The 2017 Volunteer of the Year  Award was presented to the Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue last Thursday at the Doty Island annual dinner.

The Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue volunteer their time and money to various charities in Neenah and Menasha. Since 2003, the Firefighters have raised and donated over $100,000!  This year, on Doty Island, they have volunteered their time and efforts in January's Winter Gala (they made and served the chili) and Doty Island's annual picnic in August (they cooked and served the hot dogs, plus brought their truck for tours). You'll also see them volunteering their time with the annual Santa float! In addition to the Doty Island activities, they also participate in the following:

Annual Mayor’s Golf Outing
Local 275 Firefighter’s Back Draft Bike Tour
Fill the Boot for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) research
Sponsoring community concerts
Homes for Troops t-shirt sales
Breast Cancer research pink t-shirt sales

Helping with the Rocket park rebuild in Neenah

Hosting GREAT Kids program for the YMCA

Hosting Open Houses to share safety tips and answer questions
Helping Santa with his annual visits to both communities
Menasha Parks & Rec “Safety Town Program”
Menasha Library’s “Story Walk”
Neenah Parks & Rec “Touch The Truck Event”
